A man and his newborn baby were stopped from boarding plane by an airline as they have a policy that babies under seven-days-old cannot fly with them.
Rubin Swift was so excited to bring his newborn daughter to home in Cleveland, Ohio. He had sole custody of his four-day-old baby, Ru-Andria, who was in Ohio, Phoenix.
But, when Rubin went to the Sky Harbor International airport with Ru-Andria, they stopped him from boarding plane.
They said they have a policy that babies under seven-days-old cannot fly with them.
Rubin panicked as he had no one in the city he could go to for help. That’s when he remembered an elderly nurse he met at the hospital.
Joy Ringhofer, a volunteer at the Banner University Medical Center, who he met when he was at the hospital while picking up his newborn.
He immediately called Joy and told her everything.
The kind-hearted lady went out of her way to help Rubin and his newborn baby.
“I didn’t expect her to say, ‘I’m coming to get you and take you home.’ So, I’m thinking, ‘She is going to drive me back to Cleveland’ but she actually brought me to her house and feeding me and making sure my baby is alright” Rubin said.
Rubin and his daughter stayed at Joy’s house until his daughter was 7 days old.
“We’re two different colors and she opened up her door and it never was an issue. My color was never an issue. She loves my baby. She held her. My baby was with her all night. Who does that?” Rubin said.
Joy said: “I had such a strong feeling that I needed to do this for him. I know he was a kind and safe man to have in my home and he has been a perfect gentleman.”
“He promised to come back and visit me, and let me see her again. I’m looking forward to that.”
