Homer Talley tells sources that his son was a gun enthusiast, owning an AR-15 rifle that is similar to Ruger AR-556 used in the massacre.

His son was one of the first to have shown up at the scene at King Soopers, gunman Ahmad Alissa opened fire in the supermarket parking lot, killing them alongside another eight more individuals.

The mass shooting resulted in calls from Washington to enforce stricter gun controls, but Talley’s father believes that no matter what the government does, stronger laws would not have protected his son from the incident.

The suspect, Alissa, made one of his first court appearances and is facing ten counts of murder. Attorneys are asking for three months in order to determine his mental health, and prosecution asked for them to speed up the process since they are expected to file more chargers against the man once the crime scene is processed.

There was no plea to be entered and continues to be held without bond. The shooter was described as a “loser” and had anger management issues ever since he was young. His motive is still not confirmed, for they don’t know the true cause of his attack.
