A ‘genius’ father has come up with the idea to wrap the entire kitchen, including foods and utensils, in wrapping paper as part of an Elf on the Shelf prank.
34-year-old Carl Mullen-King had begun covering everything he could find in his kitchen in wrapping paper when his wife, Nichola, walked in on him.
After explaining to her that it’s all a part of his brilliant prank, Nichola decided to join arms with her husband and cover the entire kitchen in wrapping paper while their 6-year-old son Max was sleeping.
6 rolls of wrapping paper and hours of ‘hard work’ later, the UK-based couple was done decorating whereas nothing, including the eggs, escaped the wrapping paper.
“My … husband came up with the bright idea for us to wrap part of the kitchen for Elf on the Shelf. Two hours later and a divorce on the cards, it’s done including the fruit, eggs, utensils and chopping board. Idiot even plugged the air freshener back in,” Nichola shared online after the operation.
“I assumed Carl, who is a customer service advisor, was joking when he said let’s wrap the whole kitchen. But after reading Max a book and putting him to bed, he had started and asked me for a hand.”
As the mother added, their son initially hoped that the elf wouldn’t return this year because he thinks the fellow only “gets him into trouble with Santa.” Fortunately, however, Max had a change of plans and Carl was forced to come up with a creative last-minute solution to prank the boy.
“I couldn’t stop laughing but we were both panicking in case the noise would wake Max up and I joked a divorce was on the cards if he continued to tell me to ‘shh,’” Nichola added.
“Max’s reaction in the morning was brilliant – he couldn’t believe it! He was absolutely flabbergasted and said, ‘Why do I always get the naughty Elf?’”
