The heartbroken father whose pregnant wife got killed in front of him by a “DUI driver” has spoken out and revealed he’s been “living a nightmare” since the tragic accident.
23-year-old Yesenia Lisette Aguilar, who was 35 weeks pregnant, was excited to become a mother when her life was cut short as 40-year-old Courtney Pandolfi rammed into her after mounting a curb with her car.
While the expectant mom’s husband, James Alvarez, survived the incident caused by the alleged DUI driver unscathed, Yesenia suffered fatal injuries in front of her husband.
Following the accident that had happened in Orange County, California, the paramedics rushed the 23-year-old to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
To save the baby, doctors then performed emergency cesarean and delivered little Adalyn Rose. As of this writing, the baby is being closely monitored and is reportedly fighting for her life.
“It’s like I’m living a nightmare and I’m hoping to wake up soon. But I’m accepting the reality is she’s gone. And my daughter is the only thing that I have left,” the tearful husband said in an interview with KTLA.
As James explained, he and his wife were struggling to conceive for two years before they finally got lucky and received the good news.
According to the father, the couple was just taking an evening stroll when Pandolfi rammed into his wife with her car.
“I was holding her hand. I was trying to pull her away towards me,” the grieving husband recalled.
“We’ve been trying for two years, and finally, we’re blessed to have a beautiful princess, and we’re a month away from her birth. And all of a sudden, out of a second, my life changed.”
As the father expressed, his daughter is all he’s got left and he will now focus on her recovery.
Following the expectant mother’s tragic passing, a GoFundMe page was established to help the family deal with funeral costs and medical expenses.
Sending prayers to the family during these tough times.
