After Terry Smith was shot by a gunman 18 times, he made an incredible comeback!
Only two days after the terrifying incident, he walked out of the hospital and went back to work with a new perspective in life.
The 34-year-old dad, who described himself as ‘boring,’ had a quiet life working for his family.
But on March 25, Smith almost passed away if it wasn’t for a miracle. He was sitting in his car enjoying a short break from his hotel housekeeping job when a violent gunman suddenly appeared.
The next thing he knew, he was pierced with numerous bullets.
Smith told WKYC: “When I looked up, I just saw somebody standing out there with a gun. It’s like he was shooting to kill, basically. And I’ve never seen this guy in my life.”
The father ended up with gunshot wounds to his arms, chest, head, and face. Luckily, the 18 bullets did not pierce any of his major organs.
“I knew I was shot a lot of times. I just was wondering, Why? Like, why? It was blood everywhere.”
Smith even managed to drive away and stopped when he saw a group of hotel employees. “I ran in there and I was like, Can y’all help me? I’ve just been shot. Everybody was running around going crazy. I was just standing around, like, oh man, I’m messing up these people’s hotel,” he expressed.
The father recalled having to wait for an ambulance while thinking about his two children, a 10-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter.
“I can’t die. That’s the only thing. I can’t die. I got kids. I can’t die,” he said.
Smith stunned doctors with how quickly he managed to recover from the bullets that could’ve taken his life. Now, he thanks God every day for his life.
“I thank God every day for my family,” he said. “I just thank God every day. Just randomly out of the day, I’m just like, ‘Thank you God!’”
