A father was left in tears after he was gifted a teddy bear with the sound of his late son’s heartbeat.
John Reid received the gift from the man who got his 16-year-old son’s heart and he couldn’t hold back his tears.
John’s wife, Stephanie Reid shared the heartbreaking video online that shows John receiving the teddy bear with the sound of his late son’s heartbeat from the recipient of his son’s heart, Robert O’Connor.
John and Stephanie’s 16-year-old son, Dakota was killed in a crash in January 2019 after the driver of his car pulled out in front of an SUV.
Robert O’Connor got his late son’s heart and decided to give him a teddy bear with the sound of his late son’s heartbeat with a note.
The note read: “We would have preferred to give this to you in person, but not sure when that would happen. As you know, I went for my one-year check-up this past week.”
“While we were there the staff made arrangements with the echocardiogram team… Dakota’s heartbeat….,” John can be heard reading the note in the heartbreaking video.

After receiving the priceless gift, John told CBS: “When I got the bear, my heart was filled with joy. I did not expect any of this.”
“To give the gift of life is to continue God’s plan for both the donor families and the recipient.”
John and O’Connor talk daily and are planning to meet soon in person. John said: “We are blood now. We are family.”
Dakota’s organs also saved a man who needed a kidney and pancreas and a man who needed eyes.
The video has become viral online after it was posted by Dakota’s mother. The heartbreaking video left everyone in tears and got hundred of likes and shares.
