19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Uriostegue was reported missing after she failed to pick up her son from daycare on April 23.
Her body was discovered on May 14 behind a house in a suburb after a long and frustrating search. She was 9 months pregnant with a boy she named Yadiel, who was cut out from her womb.
The baby has been on a ventilator in a hospital and is not expected to survive but the family has no plans on turning off his life support.
The teen’s father, Arnulfo Ochoa, has spoken out about his frustrations with the investigation into her case. He said that he couldn’t look past ‘anti-immigration laws’ that delayed police action.
46-year-old Clarisa Figueroa, 40-year-old Piotr Bobak and 24-year-old Desiree have been charged. The two women are strangled Marlen and cut the baby out and Bobak concealed the murder.
Marlen’s husband, Lopez, cried in front of reporters and said: “It’s very painful. Very painful to see your wife with whom you lived with four years and then see her with her eyes closed.
“I just don’t know… I don’t know. I don’t know why these horrible people did this. She didn’t do anything to them she was a good person.”
It is reported that the culprits wanted to use the baby to get money by creating a GoFundMe page.
An autopsy revealed Ochoa-Uriostegui died from ‘ligature strangulation’ and her death has been ruled a homicide.
“We believe that she was murdered and we believe that the baby was forcibly removed following that murder,” said Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
“We’re gonna have justice with those responsible,” Lopez said. “We’re gonna go hard after them. We won’t let it go. They don’t know the pain they’ve caused. They don’t know.”
