Located in San Francisco, the father had been out on a walk with his son before the criminal started attacking him.

He came up from behind and started to punch him on the head more than once. There is video footage capturing the exact moments of the father, and once he punches him 14 times, his son’s stroller starts to roll away.

It takes some time for the baby’s father to get up on his feet because of the attack, but he rushes towards the stroller and onlookers glance at the scene in shock. In an interview, he tells sources that his “security has been shattered.”

He continues to comment, “I was right on the ground and in that exact second I was trying to shield my head and prevent any worse injuries. I couldn’t protect my child. I was on the floor and he was in a stroller that was slowly rolling away, so it’s definitely very scary as a parent.”

Police have found the attacker, being identified as Sidney Hammond, 26-year-old, and charged him with not only assault, but false imprisonment and child endangerment. Luckily, Bruce’s son had not been harmed in the process.

Hammond’s arrest follows after another one where he had been freed from bail, allegedly shoplifting at the mini market that Bruce was shopping at the time of the attack. He had also been free of charges for pushing someone onto the train tracks.

Bruce states that it is an unprovoked attack, because there is no relation between him and Hammond. They did not exchange words when Hammond came up to punch him in the head, which Bruce thinks is a racial attack from the uprisings that have been occurring across the nation.

The attack was not charged as a hate crime, but there has been a widespread assault on Asian-Americans throughout the country, the “Stop Asian Hate” movement has increased in awareness from online sources and demonstrations that have been held in public.
