Dr Fauci has made it clear that he likes working with Biden as he praised the new administration for “honesty” and “transparency” just 24 hours after the inauguration.
As the nation’s top health expert expressed after his first day of working with the new president, he feels that the new administration doesn’t point fingers but works to resolve the issues through “science and evidence.”
While Dr Anthony Fauci didn’t specifically mention the former president, he clearly drew a comparison between the Trump administration and the current administration.
“One of the new things in this administration is: if you don’t know the answer, don’t guess. Just say you don’t know the answer,” he said during a press briefing after working with Biden and his team for just a day.
“One of the things that was very clear as recently as about 15 minutes ago, when I was with the president, is that one of the things that we’re going to do is to be completely transparent open and honest if things go wrong.”
Dr Fauci, who had a turbulent relationship with Trump in recent months, also went on to defend the current administration’s approach to making decisions based on evidence.
“Not point fingers but to correct them and to make everything we do be based on science and evidence. I mean that was literally a conversation I had 15 minutes ago with the president, and he has said that multiple times,” he added.
Taking a swipe at the former president, Dr Fauci suggested he felt “uncomfortable” by some of the things Trump had said in the past because they were not based on evidence.
“It was very clear that they were things that were said, regarding things like hydroxychloroquine and other things like that.point 228 |
That really was uncomfortable because they were not based on scientific fact, I can tell you I take no pleasure at all in being in a situation of contradicting the president,” the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director said.point 210 | 1
