Heavily-armed agents descended on YouTube star Jake Paul’s Los Angeles mansion and seized multiple firearms from the $6.
9 million property.
The raid is said to be connected to a riot at a shopping mall in Arizona, with the FBI saying to ABC7: “The FBI is investigating allegations of criminal acts surrounding the incident at Scottsdale Fashion Square in May 2020.”
The YouTuber’s neighbors said they heard ‘mysterious explosions in the night’ after agents dressed in tactical gear seized high-powered weapons from the mansion.
One of the neighbors told CBSLA that he heard “big loud explosion at night,” adding: “These are just mysterious, things in the night.”
The 23-year-old’s lawyer said he was not at home when the agents arrived but multiple firearms were taken from his property.
Another FBI raid was launched at a Las Vegas property belonging to Paul’s friend. The social media personality, Armani Izadi, was also arrested during the Arizona looting.
The case against Izadi and Paul was later dropped by the City Attorney.
The Scottsdale Police Department said in a statement: “It is in the best interest of the community to dismiss misdemeanor charges without prejudice so that a federal criminal investigation can be completed.
“Scottsdale retains the option to refile charges depending on the outcome of the federal investigation.”
The raid comes weeks after the YouTube star threw a party at his mansion amid coronavirus pandemic. Visitors could be seen dancing, playing beer pong, drinking, messing around the yard, and watching TV.
With cases of coronavirus still high at that time, authorities immediately expressed their concern.
Calabasas mayor Alica Wentraub told ABC News: “I was very upset that somebody would hold such an outrageous gathering in our community.
“We’re trying to do everything we can to get our numbers down and keep our community safe, and something like this just does the opposite.”
According to Fox11, Mayor Weintraub said: “I was very upset that somebody would hold such an outrageous gathering in our community.
“We’re trying to do everything we can to get our numbers down and keep our community safe, and something like this just does the opposite.
“It’s really just a party acting like Covid does not exist, it’s acting that businesses aren’t closed.”
