After today, the game of head and tails will become for fun as the nation’s favorite pantomimes, Jack and the Beanstalk, Dick Wittington, and more are carved on the 50p coins.
The coins are being released by the Guernsey Treasury. Therefore, they will not be accepted as legal tender across the UK. Then again, what fun it would be have Cinderella in your coin purse!
Also, the coins are designed by artist Ian Rank-Broadly. In all, there are 5 such designs which will have the title of the play along with illustrations and 2019 stamped on them.
The illustrations are indeed alluring with Jack climbing on a beanstalk in the coin designed for the play.
The coin designed for Cinderella has the title of the play written beautifully like that of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Artist’s imagination truly comes across through the Aladdin coin which has intricately designed carpet with a lamp on it.
You can buy these collectible coins from the Westminster Collection Website today because you are little likely to receive them as change in the near future.
Do we need to say that the coins are pretty expensive? Because, yes. They are. A set of five cupronickel coins will cost you 30 Euros while the same in color will take you back 325 Euros in one go.
The British Isle in October will release twenty thousand commemorative coins- four thousand of each of the above designs. They will be issued for public circulation.
Before this, the Kew Graden’s coins were considered to be the rarest of all 50p coins with only 210,000 of them in circulation. But since these coins are only 20,000, the 50p coin will become the most sought after.
Since the Royal Mint doesn’t mint these coins, you are not supposed to spend them in the UK. Well, you wouldn’t want to either because each of these coins is worth 148 Euros on eBay.
If you place an order with the firm today, your orders will be dispatched by 10th of October. The colored versions of these coins however will be dispatched by October 14th.
