A huge fireball has been spotted falling from the sky and crashing into a county in China, leaving residents shocked.
Videos of the large ball of fire flashing across the sky at a fast speed in southern China were shared online.
Dozens of videos show the unidentified object lighting up the sky as it plunged into Nangqian county in Qinghai province.
Residents said they also heard loud bangs when the strange phenomenon occurred at around 7am on Wednesday.
In one of the clips shared on social media platform Weibo, the huge ball of fire descends through the darkness as it was witnessed by a passenger on a flight from Xi’an to Lhasa.
Another video shows the fireball soaring quickly towards fields.
Dan Ba, a resident, said he saw the huge burning object while taking his kid to school.
In an interview with Pear Video, the parent said: “It started very small, but three minutes later it became very big and bright.”
Yu Jun, chief writer of Guokr – a Chinese science website – said to Beijing News that the ball of fire looked like a bolide, a very bright meteor.
China Earthquake Networks Center said that it had also recorded the marvel. It wrote on social media that a suspected bolide landed near the border between Yusu County and Nangqian County at 7:25am.
One person commented: “Routine meteorite fall but the vast majority of the natural world’s own fireworks displays go unseen over deserts and oceans so this is a relatively rare sight.”
Another wrote: “And So it Begins.”
