A firefighter responded to a car crash and found his daughter covered in blood at the scene.
47-year-old Adrian Smith experienced every parent’s worst nightmare when he saw the lifeless body of his 21-year-old daughter Ella Brooke Smith after being called out to a fire after a car crash.
He just said goodbye to his child only a few hours earlier but the trainee nurse was found lying unconsciously in the wreckage of a three-vehicle pileup.
Sharing a photo of him and his daughter at a family when she was still a kid, the grieving dad and his heartbroken family said: “We are utterly devastated at losing our beloved Ella. She was a much loved and caring daughter, sister and granddaughter.
“She was a beautiful girl who will be missed by us all. We would like to thank everyone for their support at this horrific time. It has meant so much to the whole family as we grieve for our Ella.”
Ella said goodbye to her parents only hours earlier before the crash and she went to the seaside resort of Broadhaven, Pembrokeshire.
Police said that the 21-year-old died at the scene in Haverfordwest while three others were severely injured.
“You cannot imagine how Adrian must be feeling. It is every emergency worker’s worst nightmare to find your own child is a victim,” a family friend said.
“They are such a lovely family. Ella was so bubbly with all her future ahead of here.”
Ella’s mother, father, and her siblings are getting support from specialist police officers from the Dyfed Powys force.
Ella worked as a trainee nurse at the Parc Y Llyn Nursing and Residential Home in Ambleston.
“This is so cruel. We just hope her family can remember her with as much love as we do,” one friend said.
