Fallon Sherrock made headlines after securing a 3-2 win against Ted Evetts at the PDC World Darts Championship, marking the first time a man has been defeated by a woman in the PDC World Darts.
Fallon, 25, had the impossible odds of 2,000 to one to win the tournament when she stepped in the match against Ted. She was at a 2-1 initially in the match, but she turned the tables defeating Ted, who holds the 77th rank in darting worldwide.
Fallon, who won the UK and Ireland women’s qualifying matches, is the fifth woman ever to compete in a PDC Championship. Fallon is also the fourth woman to qualify for the championship after the introduction of the qualifying round for women.
The newly introduced qualifying round is meant to reserve two of the 96 spots in the championship for women.
Fallon will now be playing against Austrian Mensur Suljovic for the second round of the competition. Speaking about her victory, she said that she felt proud of making a record in the game and having a positive influence on women’s darts forever.
She said: “I am speechless. I don’t know what to say. Thank you every one. I feel really happy because I have made something for women’s darts.
“I can’t believe it. To do that on the biggest stage, wow. I am so happy that I can continue it rather than go out.
“This is definitely one of the best moments I’ve had. I’m just so happy. I’ve just made history. I can’t believe it. I’ve made a great achievement for women’s darts.”
Not a surprise at all, Fallon went trending on Twitter within no time after the win.
She posted her picture with the caption: “I’m buzzing !!!!!!! can’t believe I’ve made history tonight … done it for the girls… that was amazing!”
The sportswoman was met with a number of positive responses from her fans for making history in the game.
