A fisherman from California risked his own life to save a Humpback whale trapped in a net.
Sam Synstelien and Nicholas Taron noticed a Humpback whale trapped in a net when they were out. Synstelien decided to help the whale and jumped into the ocean.
Synstelien swam up to the whale, climbed on its back, cut through the cord and finally rescued the whale.
Synstelien told Inside Edition: “I’ve never been that close to a whale. It was like jumping out an airplane or skydiving, it was like what… am I doing right now? That is a big whale.”
His friend Taron said: “If we wanted the whale to survive we had to go get it. We thought there was no other option for the whale; we decided to go for it. We were so pumped up full of adrenaline, I don’t think we were that scared.”
The video of the dramatic rescue was posted online which instantly went viral.
A man can be heard saying in the video: “Get it Sam! Get it! Swim, swim! Move! Just get it! Get it!”
Everyone praised Synstelien for rescuing the trapped whale. One wrote: ‘It’s people like these that restore my faith in humanity.’
Another wrote: ‘Not all heroes wear capes, some wear life jackets.’
The third one commented: ‘The real Aqua Man!! He definitely is one of the bravest people I’ve seen, thank God for all the good people still left in this world.’
