A fisherman nearly died after a live fish got stuck in his throat and obstructed his air passage.
The bizarre incident took place in Egypt where a 40-year-old unnamed fisherman found himself in a fight for his life after a fish got wedged inside his throat.
According to the reports, the animal lodged in the angler’s throat left the man with a gap barely big enough to allow him to breathe and survive until he got to a hospital.
After the fisherman was taken to Beni Suef Specialized Hospital, the staff managed to pull the fish out of his throat in a stomach-churning procedure. Reportedly, the fish was still alive when the doctors removed it from the man’s throat.
As Doctor Ali Al-Hajri explained according to Aljazeera, the patient would probably not survive the incident if he didn’t receive immediate medical attention.
As if the operation itself wasn’t weird enough, the story of how the fish got inside the man’s throat is no easy thing to grasp either.
Apparently, the angler was out fishing like usual when he took notice of the fish that pulled his hook. As he was reeling the fish in, he noticed another good catch swimming right next to it.
In an attempt to catch the other fish before it swam away, the man allegedly quickly grabbed the first fish with his mouth and prepared his rod for the other one. While rushing to catch the other animal, the first fish slipped down the man’s throat and got itself lodged with no easy way forward or backward.
