US-based singer Macy Gray is being attacked online by critics who disagree with her call for a new American flag.
Twitter was on fire after the ‘I Try’ singer went about suggesting how the hues of the American flag need to be alternated, also suggesting how there need to be two more stars added to the design so it can best represent the country.
The news was undoubtedly received with mixed reviews as some just couldn’t believe her justifications for the ‘revolutionationary’ idea.
On Thursday, the celeb added how the current American flag served as a harsh replacement for the Confederate Flag, right after which she added that it was a symbol that related to opposition towards the abolishment of slavery.
She also went on to claim how the US flag was more or less ‘tattered, divisive, incorrect, and dated too. Hence, for all of these reasons, she felt that a new change was of the utmost essence.
“Our American flag is no longer our pride as it fails to accurately represent the freedom as well as democracy upon which the nation remains grounded,” the Grammy-nominated singer explained.
Macy Gray also went about taking a major dig at the symbolism related to the colors being represented on the US flag. “It has been 62 long years, ever since it was designed. Therefore, it is now time to reset the American flag,” she added.
Many online viewers were not too kind or open about her ideas and hence opted to take to Twitter to let the world know how they really felt about the idea.
One bold commenter called the singer out, questioning how the American flag became ‘too white,’ all of a sudden. In the same way, another individual revealed how it was high time to cancel out singers like Macy Gray and all those who seemingly have an issue with the flag in general.
