Kind-Hearted Flight Attendant Soothed A Little Boy With Autism During His Sudden ‘Meltdown’ On Plane

When a little boy, suffering from anxiety and autism, had a “meltdown” while he was on a plane with his mom, a kind-hearted flight attendant stepped in to relieve the mother of her ordeal.

Sonja Redding was traveling in a Delta Airlines flight back from a medical research trip with her two children, both of whom have a rare genetic disorder called Methylmalonic Acidemia.

“It is a serious and life-threatening disease that currently has no cure,” Redding wrote in a social media post.

The flight from Washington DC to Atlanta was peaceful until the woman’s 5-year-old boy Xayvior suffered a sudden “meltdown.”

“We couldn’t keep him calm no matter what we tried,” Redding wrote on her Facebook. “It felt like everyone on the entire plane was looking at us and annoyed by my son’s outburst.

“It can feel very frustrating and isolating when others just don’t understand that he isn’t just a kid with no discipline, but rather a child with special needs who doesn’t know how to control his responses to things.”

However, the woman’s ordeal ended as soon as a kind-hearted flight attendant stopped by to ask if she could take the boy on a walk inside the plane so as to calm him down.

“I warned her that he might get aggressive with her,” the woman wrote.

“She quickly responded that she did not mind and swooped him up, taking him on a tour of the plane. This hero gave us a bit of sanity back in a chaotic moment.

“When they came back, Xayvior was much more calm and he just loved on his new friend so happily!” she added.

“I want to thank this Delta employee and let Delta know what a wonderful woman they have employed with them.

“She didn’t stare or judge, she just showed love and empathy without hesitation.”

The word spread soon and Delta Airlines responded to the heartwarming incident.
