A climate change activist belonging to the Extinction Rebellion was caught on camera protesting on a plane by refusing to sit down.
The man on the Aer Lingus aircraft was heard apologizing for the inconvenience to other passengers but refused to take a seat, causing the flight to get delayed by two hours.
The incident occurred at the London City Airport where the man infiltrated the place with only but one thing in mind – sabotaging the flight.
As time passed by, the flight attendants repeatedly asked the man to leave the plane peacefully. As for other passengers, they were starting to get annoyed, with some of them even threatening the guy to kick him off themselves.
“How long are you gonna be, mate?” one person asked while another one said: “Well, you’ll be thrown off by me.”
The protestor, however, kept on apologizing and coming up with poor excuses to refuse to sit down or leave the plane.
“I’m very sorry. I’m extremely sorry for the inconvenience,” he said.
“I wish I could. Today there’s a protest at this airport…
“I’m extremely sorry to disturb everybody here. We have two generations of human civilization left if we carry on doing what we’re doing.”
After the incident, Andy Millward, the man who filmed the activist in action, spoke to PA and said:
“We were disembarked but now being loaded back on.”
Speaking of the bizarre flight delay, Aer Lingus provided the following statement:
“Aer Lingus can confirm that a passenger scheduled to travel on EI283 flight from London City to Dublin airport was removed from the flight due to disruptive behavior onboard.”
