A flight from Manchester to Pakistan got delayed when a passenger opened the plane’s emergency exit door thinking it to be a bathroom.
The bizarre misconception caused emergency chute of Boeing 737-340 to be deployed instantly, resulting in a seven-hour delay in the flight.
All of the 37 passengers had to be removed from the plane as the flight had been postponed until the next morning at 5am.
Luckily, the situation was not threatening for the woman or any other person, Pakistan Airlines said in a statement released to The Express Tribune.
“The plane was parked on the runway when the airbag chute opened, so there was no threat of any kind,” the statement said of the incident which is now under investigation.
Manchester Airport hasn’t yet commented on the incident.
Flight delays and cancellations are a pretty common thing across the globe. And no matter where they happen, they are extremely annoying.
However, not everyone gets mad at flight delays!
For instance, a segment from an old episode of TV series Airline showing a guy’s hilarious reaction to his flight being delayed recently went viral.
The segment showed the reaction of people who were given refunds and refreshment vouchers as compensation for the flight delay.
When the legendary guy, sitting in the airport bar, was asked how he felt, he replied: “I’m pretty chilled out about this actually, I’ve had five pints of Guinness … and my wife’s just left me for another man, I can’t mention the name – oh Jacqui – I’m ever so sorry about that.”
He added: “So actually, the fact that there’s a four hour delay on a flight doesn’t bother me.”
Turns out, there do exist some people who can keep their cool despite facing hours of flight delay. To be honest, how do you expect a delay to bother someone whose wife has just left him for another man.
