When natural disasters happen, there’s not a lot of things to do as humans.
Besides, even if we prepare for the worst, natural disasters are too unpredictable, which means what we plan for may not be enough.
But in the midst of such hardships, people often find warmth and comfort in certain unthinkable places, or even in strangers.
When a terrible flood happened in Louisiana a while back, many houses were damaged, and the residents had to leave in order to survive.
A woman named Courtney Burkett Berdon posted about what her mother had to go through, and people were so stunned by the story that it was shared for more than 6000 times.point 368 |

Instead of posting about how difficult and painful it was for her to see her mother’s house being flooded, she posted about a heartfelt moment that was shared by her mother and a FedEx employee.point 166 | 1
Here’s an excerpt of what she wrote:
“In the midst of tragedy and devastation, this is when we as humans do our very best. We come together and selflessly help each other one by one!
This man will never know the impact he had on my mother, but I know it has impacted her for a lifetime.”
And this post went viral.
Courtney’s mother, Donna Burkett, had to leave her house due to flooding, which devastated her.
She had to abandon her life – her cherished belongings, her memories living in the house, and more.
As you can tell from the post, when she met this FedEx employee, everything changed.

He noticed that she was in pain, so even though he probably had a tight delivery schedule, this man did the unthinkable.
He asked Courtney’s mother if he could hold hands with her and pray for her.
Here’s what she wrote, recalling the event that touched her mother’s heart –
“The FedEx man was making a delivery at my home. He saw my mom was hurting. He stopped and asked if he could pray for her. And there they stood.. Together praying..”
What an incredible story of one comforting the other in times of need.
