A startling new report has gone on to confirm how cops from Florida have admitted to making a costly error in mistaking Brian Laundrie’s mom for him when he had already made his way to a swamp.
Cops mentioned how they most likely spotted Roberta Laundrie on the 15th of September and that’s when officers were thought to believe that they were silently keeping an eye on Brian himself.
Meanwhile, officers were also reported as mentioning how Roberta also wore a baseball cap that was similar to the style of her son Brian, and that is one of the many reasons why the mistake happened.
In addition, the officers spoke about how both mother and son were ‘built kind of similarly’ and that made it hard to differentiate the two.
The mix-up took place two days prior to when Brian Laundrie was reported with a missing status attached to his name, but that was actually several days after his real disappearance.
Surprisingly, the police chief from North Port even announced on the 16th of September how he was sure about Brian’s whereabouts.
But now, the public information officer from the North Port Police admitted to the mix-up error, adding how they felt that it was a costly mistake, to begin with. At the same time, he also repeated how no case was perfect and this just happened to be one of them.
The Laundries mentioned how they did not see their son ever since he left their residence on the 14th of September. But soon after that, they changed their statement quickly, adding how it was actually September 13th, and that’s when he really left the home.
Now, the police department is continuing with its investigations into the case and making efforts to try and determine where the actual error took place and why.
