Two young teenagers from Florida have been arrested for planning a major middle school shooting.
The daring pair are now serving their time at a local detention center after the middle schoolers were recently accused of planning the horrifying attack that some claim is very similar to the Columbine massacre.
Reports added how one of the boys’ mothers went on to defend her son, stating how she was unaware of the incident, saying her child was just too young to be thinking about such evil deeds. “My son is just a little boy who was not serious at all about his alleged attack,” she tried to explain.
The suspects were identified by police officers as 13-year-old Connor Pruett and 14-year-old Phillip Byrd that will now serve their time at a juvenile detention center for a minimum period of 21 days. The pair reportedly planned the mass shooting for Hans Marsh Middle School, which is situated in Lehigh Acres, as stated by WINK News.
In the same way, the young teens were also ordered to keep away from other school classmates and faculty, as investigations into the horrifying incident went on.
But what really shocked so many people is how the mothers of these boys fail to understand the severity of their crime. Moreover, they felt that the authorities were simply overreacting and turning a small incident into a massive deal. “My son is innocent and there’s nothing more to it,” one mother added.
Similarly, the moms revealed how they were just two little boys who shouldn’t be dealt with so seriously. “He really didn’t feel that this matter was this serious, he really did not,” she went on to reiterate.
But the cops refused to take any chances, treating this case of suspicion like all others. Therefore, they felt the need to bust the teens right after one of their teachers reported that one of the boys was carrying a gun in his bag.
“This could well have been an incident similar to the massacre that rocked Parkland,” explained Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “It would not be wrong to add that we were just one second away from another Columbine incident.”
