Many are the haters who would literally stop at nothing to belittle Taylor Swift’s career, but it seems her latest album to come out just this week, ‘Folklore’ is getting the rave reviews most singers have been scarce to receive in this rather critically salty year.
The follow-up album for “Reputation” and “Lover”, this album is giving off the air of something the singer has not ventured yet in her illustrious recording history.
Swift announced the surprise album on Thursday, releasing it on all streaming services just hours later. And the critics, although it’s still very early to tell, has been calling this album her greatest work yet:
“Her emotional acuity has never been more assured,” the Guardian advocates.”It’s hard to remember any contemporary pop superstar that has indulged in a more serious, or successful, act of sonic palate cleansing,” Variety screamed out in critical ecstasy.
“‘Folklore’ feels fresh, forward-thinking and, most of all, honest,” NME proclaimed. “A project created in isolation, Folklore finds Swift pouring every inch of her current psyche, amidst an imperfect reality, into her songwriting.
We’re fortunate that she decided to share it with us.” Billboard has said.
“Once again Taylor Swift’s proving why she’s one of the best songwriters in this decade,”a Twitter fan had memorably described the album’s legacy.
“This whole album sounds like the old books in a forgotten library started singing their stories out loud to people who can’t come to take them anymore,” another tweeted over in a gushing statement.
NME, in their opinion, has also strongly proclaimed that “The Last Great American Dynasty” — a song which motif comes from the history and the aura of the 20th-century socialite Rebekah Harkness — a “contender for the best Taylor Swift song ever written.
” Billboard, however, goes for the “Invisible String,” not stopping to give off the compliments to “a sensational love story centered on the happy accidents that will get you choked up if you let them.”
English singer Maisie Peters was full of praise too, writing: “happy folklore day my favourites are this is me trying, betty and invisible string and peace is her best ever song.
this is also her best ever album.” Model Martha Hunt commented that “folklore is the indie album of my dreams,” and American singer Ashe added: “I remain increasingly impressed by Taylor Swift’s ability to make me cry on a moment’s notice.
