A former Miss Kentucky who received the crown in the Miss America pageant in 2014 has been sentenced to two years in jail after admitting to sharing nude photos with a 15-year-old student while she was working as a teacher.
29-year-old Ramsey BethAnn Bearse, a former West Wirginia middle school teacher, was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised released, according to Kanawha Assistant Prosecutor Meshell Garrett. In addition, she must register as a sex offender for life.
Bearse admitted to exchanging sexual photos with the teen between August and October 2018. It was a parent of the student who found the pictures on the student’s phones.
She previously claimed she meant to send an explicit photo to her husband but accidentally send the image to her student, who asked for more pictures.
The former teacher then sent him sexual photos using the Snapchat app as she was ‘afraid to not appease him.’
Bearse said in December 2019: “Since I am the adult, and he was just a teenager, it is my fault, and I accept full blame for the situation.
“So that’s how I’m guilty of this crime. I messed up big-time.”
Bearse was suspended from teaching when the investigation started. According to Kanawha County School district, the former Miss Kentucky no longer works there.
