Messages from fortune cookies are usually ignored.
But one man from Maryland listened and it won him a jackpot!
Diego Caceres and his brother Domingo wrapped up a delicious meal at a Chinese restaurant when a fortune cookie told him it was his lucky day.
When people receive notes that it is their lucky day, most simply throw the paper away. Not all of us bother anymore as a four-leaf clover only chooses one in a million – sometimes, none.
Caceres initially didn’t want to believe that it was indeed a lucky day for him. But before the day ended, he decided to try something that would need high levels of luck!
Trusting the message, he decided to borrow some money from his brother and bought a $10 Power 8s scratch-off ticket from 7-eleven.
Caceres was surprised he won more than enough money to pay Domingo back. He just won $100,000 from the scratch-off ticket!
This was only the second time he tried his luck at the lottery. Caceres said he tried the Power 8s ticket as 8 is a lucky number for him. It is also the jersey number of his favorite soccer player.
The siblings plan to put the cash toward a multi-destination vacation and also some professional soccer game tickets in Europe and South America. He also plans to share the winnings with his family.
“We’ll live a little,” 25-year-old Caceres said in a statement. “We are young!”
Wow! Not all of us trust fortune cookie messages, and good thing Caceres believed in it!
