If the thought of being in a lockdown is making you antsy, then why not spend the time in isolation with a furry friend? After all, studies have shown that pets can help relieve stress and calm the nerves.
And to help incentivize this, Busch is offering a free three-month supply of beer for those who foster or adopt a dog through Midwest Animal Rescue & Services (MARS). This offer lasts until April 22 so you need to hurry up to get your share.
Animal shelters and rescue shelters have been closing to visitors to help curb the spread of the coronavirus. So Busch decided to help out by starting the free beer initiative and donating $25,000 to MARS so that those dogs who need adopting can find loving homes as the country goes into lockdown.
“During these uncertain and lonelier times, people need an escape: cue the cute puppy memes and photos,” a Busch spokesperson said in a statement. “But as much as we need those cute puppy pics to help get us through social distancing, it’s actually them who need us.”
Added the spokesperson: “Social distancing is better with a furry friend by your side and a cold beer in your hand.”
The lockdown has given people an opportunity to foster pets to keep them company while they isolate themselves from others.
“Fostering feels good — to be able to do something that’s positive,” said a family in San Francisco after they took in three terrier-mix puppies. “We know there are people who are sick and out of work. But you can’t go out and help, you can’t do much about it directly. It feels good to actually do something. Plus, the puppies are really cute.”
In California, animal shelters set up drive-thru pet fostering services as an ingenious way to get the animals the homes they deserved. The overwhelming response to the initiative reportedly “floored” the organizers.
