Four little girls have beaten cancer while spending an unbelievably joyous time with each other.
Living with a deadly disease like cancer is a real misery. But these brave girls have proved that the human spirit is much stronger than anything that can happen to it.
The four girls – McKinley, Chloe, Ava, and Lauren – were being treated for the last two years at John Hopkin’s All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Being a hospital specializing in pediatric care, the staff at John Hopkin’s Hospital is mindful of the emotional health of children besides just taking care of their physical health.
The 259-bed hospital provides rooms for parents to stay around their children and make them feel comfortable.
Medics also bring together the children being treated at the hospital to provide them a compassionate support network. And this was how McKinley, Chloe, Ava, and Lauren came close to each other.
All four of them were suffering from different types of cancer, but their mutual affection made them companions for the rest of their lives.
Now that the girls have defeated the disease and are doing perfectly fine, their moms are happy to see them healthy and cheerful.
Ava’s mother Alyssa Luciano says it is amazing to see their daughters alive and kicking after being ill and bald for a long time.
Having short hair is already a touchy subject for girls. And when it comes to full baldness, it is definitely the last thing these little souls would have wanted.
Lauren’s mum Shawna Glynn shared how her daughter had no hair even at the age of 3 years.
Little Lauren would have felt great embarrassment had she not been in a place where her companions looked exactly like her.
“It kind of gave her some normalcy,” Glynn said.
The four girls were getting acute chemo treatments when they first met at the hospital. And since all of them were deprived of hair, they shared the same common grief among themselves.
Chloe was diagnosed with extremely rare lung cancer, while her three friends had acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Despite suffering from severe conditions, the girls had a great time together, thanks to their friendship.
They would always play together whenever there used to be a break in their treatment. Their parents were also happy at the support these kids had generated for themselves.
Even the hospital staff was overjoyed at the sight of these adorable, brave fighters.
“It gives me chills. It makes me want to cry. I mean, I love these kids as if they were my own, for sure. They’re awesome,” Paige Ward, one of the nurses who cared for the girls, said.
After defeating their respective conditions, the girls have now become loyal companions of one another for the rest of their lives.
They frequently plan meetups and engage themselves in fun activities to celebrate their healthy life.
