40 Devoted Employees Volunteer For 28 Days Of Continual Labor Within Plant To Produce Medical Equipment
Manufacturing workers from the Braskem America plant, Marcus Hook, PA, have voluntarily locked themselves in the plant for almost a month.

They have now gone home temporarily for a well-earned break. Their effort has been focused in making the materials needed for personal protective medical equipment.
Over 40 employees raised their hands in chipping their hours tirelessly to make the fiber material polypropylene, the raw base material necessary in making N95 masks, medical gowns and all sorts of protective gears because they bear the character of being hygiene and preventive of external germ infection.point 401 |

The reason for the rather draconian operation cycle, explained by the firm Braskem itself, was “to help ensure the health and safety of our team members who are working as an essential service throughout this crisis to keep these key supply lines running,” with 771 million pounds of polypropylene being produced each year, according to the company website.point 381 |

The crews worked 12-hour shifts, while they were away from their families and friends, but got occasional drive-by visits from loved ones, who waved signs and honked their horns in support, WPVI reported.point 279 |
