When you go into an animal shelter it’s so heartbreaking to see all the poor animals still waiting to find their forever homes.
It’s sometimes a battle for me to not want to adopt all of them! They’re all beautiful and unique in their own way and it breaks my heart to imagine that not every animal will find their forever home. But videos like this of an adorable bulldog who cannot stop smiling is a great reminder of all the happy animals who are able to find their forever homes.
Freya was known as “the loneliest dog in the U.K.” after being passed over for adoption 18,720 times in the course of her six years in the shelter. Freya was taken in by the Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool when she was just a six month old puppy, but sadly six years later she still hasn’t found her forever home.
As a dog becomes older, their chances of being adopted get smaller every year, and unfortunately Freya was diagnosed with epilepsy which made her chances of adoption almost nonexistent.

But Freshfields Animal Rescue were not about to give up hope! They began to reach out to media to share Freya’s story. After an article by the Mirror, Hollywood director Michael Bay, best known for his extremely successful Transformers series, decided to help out this poor pooch.
In a post on Twitter, he announced that Freya would be a star in the movie Transformers: The Last Knight. Michael bay is an avid dog lover and wanted to help Freya get adopted and hoped having a role in the movie would help her chances of finding a loving owner. Bay even said that if Freya didn’t find a forever home, he would adopt Freya himself!
Michael Bay was destined to change Freya’s life for the better!
Staff at the Freshfields Animal Rescue praised Freya as “a beautiful girl, so loving and friendly. She is our big baby.”
Michael Bay sent out a series of tweets after seeing the Mirror’s article on Freya saying:

“Found this is in the news last week in the UK. We gave the Loneliest Dog a role in Transformers. Freya has epilepsy and has been in a shelter her whole 6 year life. We are also going to find her a home. If not she will come to my house. Welcome to the cast Freya!”
Freya even has her own Facebook page, which is run by the staff members of Freshfield as a little “doggie diary.” The page features news on potential adoptions but also features a healthy dose of adorable pictures of Freya!
In the article featured on the Mirror, Deputy kennel Manager at Freshfields Animal Rescue talked about Freya’s epilepsy which the staff believe is why she has been unable to find her forever home.
“We sincerely hope this does not put people off giving her a home, after many years here, she thoroughly deserves to find a loving family,” she said.
Amazingly this story does have a happy ending! Freya was finally able to find her forever home after years of searching thanks to the media attention! She has settled in and is incredibly happy with her loving owners.
You can see Freya working with none other than Sir Anthony Hopkins as the pair worked together on Transformers: The Last Knight. We even have a video below of her work on the set!
