An upset woman shares her story of grief in which her husband was criticized for not wearing a proper suit at a funeral in summer by her loved ones.
A man attended the funeral of his wife’s grandmother wearing a white shirt and black suit trousers instead of a proper suit. He looked pretty respectful in his attire but faced criticism from his wife’s family members.
People didn’t appreciate his outfit and slammed him ‘highly disrespectful’ for attending the funeral in this state. According to his wife, he didn’t have a black suit which is usually expected to wear at a funeral. In the middle of the summer season, the couple attended the sorrowful event together.
The woman elaborated further that her husband has only one proper suit in his closet, and that too is blue. Although he looked genuine in a properly ironed white shirt with a black tie and black suit trousers with well-polished shoes, he was considered ‘inappropriately dressed’ for such an event.
Many people at the funeral wore jumpers, chinos, and ill-fitting suits but didn’t hear a compliment about their outfits as it was a genuinely sad occasion. But her father accused her husband of doing so.
Many people sympathized with this woman after this reaction from her father. Some even asked her to forget about this as grief makes people do unusual things. People on social sites commented that she should not take it seriously and forbade her to tell her husband about this.
Accepting the death of a loved one is not easy at all. People take time and need support from others to overcome such grief. We should allow them to lash out a little on minor or unimportant things in that situation if they do so. Once the intensity of sadness decreases, things get to make to normal.
Life is small and unpredictable. Don’t break ties with your loved ones on minor issues. Share this article with people around you and normalize the fact that ‘sometimes it’s okay to accept a few hurtful comments from an upset family member.’
