A 21-year-old Dia Lathora was playing and chatting online with Aidan Jackson, 17, from Widnes when she heard him in the middle and realized he had a seizure.

She tried to talk to him but didn’t get any response and he had just complained about feeling sick. When Jackson didn’t respond, she “instantly” began looking up the emergency number for the EU.

When she couldn’t find the number, she called the non-emergency number and shared Jackson’s address with the police, who were able to send paramedics to his home.

“I just put my headset back on and I heard what I could only describe as a seizure,” Lethora explained. “So obviously I started to get worried and immediately started asking what was going on and if he was okay, when he didn’t respond I instantly started to look up the emergency number for the EU.”

“When that didn’t work I just had to hope the non-emergency would work, it had an option for talking to a real person…and I can’t tell you how quickly I clicked that button.”

Jackson’s parents were downstairs and watching TV at the time of the incident but they were totally unaware their son was just upstairs having a seizure. The three police officers reached their home and they had no idea what was happening.

Jackson’s mother Caroline, explained that nobody had called the police and officers informed her they’d received a call from America about an unresponsive male.

“The most surreal thing was hearing his mom come upstairs with the medical team,” Lathora added. “Hearing them talk to him, asking if he’s doing OK, saying that I had just called them saying he had a seizure.

All thanks to Lathora who quickly realized the seriousness of the situation and informed the police. Jackson was saved and taken to a nearby hospital. He quickly stabilized before being sent home.

“We are so thankful for what Dia did,” Mrs Jackson told the Echo. “I’m sure it’s not every day that Cheshire emergency services get a phone call all the way from America. We can’t thank Dia and the emergency services enough for what they did, considering the 4,750 miles between Dia and Aidan.”
