The BBC confirmed recently that from April 4, Saturday evenings will witness a comedy takeover with the old episodes of Outnumbered, the iconic comedy and family sitcom by James Corden.
The episodes of Car Share would also be shown on Friday nights while public broadcaster has promised to offer new comedy sets on BBC Two.
Tony Hall, the director of BBC noted that the BBC was determined to do everything possible to raise a smile and entertain everything in the country during these testing times.
He added that they have several shows recorded, however, they have found methods to keep various other shows running so that the familiar faces that people love would still be present in their rooms in the coming weeks and month, and that, according to him, is incredibly important.
It was further added the BBC would deliver an array of virtual events as well to replace a few of those that have had to be cancelled.
He added that they can still have Eurovision moment even though if it is varying from the past. Their pledge is to prove the best escapism, distraction, and fun they can, alongside the information and news everyone needs.
The current Covid-19 pandemic has seen international events like the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, June’s Glastonbury Festival, and 2020 Eurovision Song Contest canceling.
Film and TV productions have also been forced to shut down, whereas, networks including ITV and BBC have been pushed to look for innovative and new ways of providing new content.
In the U.K., coronavirus outbreak took lives of 578 people and Boris Johnson announced lockdown recently, which bars everyone to leave their houses until extremely necessary, and termed the outbreak as the moment of national emergency.
