We all do our own strange things when we are some bears down the road but this Glasgow lad went a little too far when it came to exhibiting his drunken arts skills.
The genius man combined 32 regular Crème Eggs into a gigantic egg by filling a huge shell with the ingredients of the smaller ones.
Forty-one-year-old Brian Hargadon says that the inspiration for this work of edible art had deep roots, dating three decades back the road of his life.
The idea struck his mind when he had his first Cadbury Crème Egg and was disappointed about the absence of sugary goo inside it.
Speaking to LADBible, Brian said: “Since then I’d always hoped Cadbury’s would bring it out one year, but if we’re taxing sugary drinks then we’ve no chance with this!”
Narrating the story behind the creation of this phenomenal Crème Egg, Brian revealed the fact that the 32 smaller eggs came from the valentine gift he got from his wife this year.
Even though the couple don’t believe too much in valentine gifts, this year his caring wife gifted him the eggs because she knew her husband loved them.
With a few of the eggs slipping into the couple’s stomachs every day, the stock started dwindling but Brian’s creativity probably got an edge on that.
As the man cracked open a cold one for the first time in 2020, the idea hit him and it hit hard. His mind related the Crème Eggs to the Easter Eggs he had procured early for this season.
Putting in his own words, he said: “I’d seen it done years ago on YouTube where they made their own fondant but I thought, ‘Nah, that’s no fun’ – plus I like a challenge.”
Now, not even caring about the fact that it was a 11 pm and a Saturday night, he decided to do what he had been planning for quite a while.
Brian finished his drink and started the intricate procedure of scooping the goo out of the little Crème Eggs.
He explained: “I poured a large whisky and managed to halve the Easter egg perfectly, then I started to chop the top off the eggs and scoop the goo out with a measuring half-teaspoon.
“It took ages, but I was drunk so enjoying it. Fifteen filled up one half and I had 17 left so I got cracking on the other half.”
The problem our genius lad faced was that he knew no method of sealing the eggs back and since it was already pretty late in the night, he took to Twitter for help, leaving rest of the work for the next day.
Brian said: “On Sunday night I melted some Dairy Milk with the popping candy and brushed it around the edges then places them together and put more round the outside and put it back in the fridge to set.
“Then at about 11pm I took it out, wrapped it back up in the foil and put it back in the box.
“It was so heavy! I just looked at it and honestly, I felt nervous because I’d been dreaming of that moment for about 30 years.
“When I bit into it and the cold chocolate cracked open and I saw how it looked inside I was so f***ing happy, as you can tell from my expression in the video!
“It looked and tasted even better than I hoped it would. I had to get a spoon and tuck into it because of the mess it would’ve made of my beard.”
Brian also very humbly explained that he was unable to scoff the egg in one go and the work actually took a couple of days to complete.
He explained: “I’ll be honest, there’s absolutely no chance I could eat it in one go. Managed about a third the first night, then the same the next two nights.
“I’d never been so thirsty in my entire life!”
Talking of the money part of his project, Brian told LADbible that he spent a total of just above $20, with the Crème Eggs setting him back $18 and $2 for the Easter Egg.
Brian’s arithmetical abilities did not suffice to calculate the total calories in the finished thing but as an estimate from LADbible, the whole thing contains 3190.8 calories.
Brian said: “It made a dream come true.
“The response on Twitter was amazing. I went to bed on Sunday with maybe a couple of thousands likes and by Monday night it was nearly 40k.
“We were p***ing ourselves laughing at all the replies, especially the ones slagging me – but it was really nice getting replies saying how happy they were for me because of how happy I looked!
“I made a joke about diabetes in the thread and a few people weren’t happy about it but I meant no offense. I understand how serious a condition it is and how badly it can affect their lives.
“My mate suggested donating some money to a diabetes charity and I thought that was a great idea so that’s exactly what I’ll be doing.”
