A Canadian doctor used some DIY machines to use one ventilator for 9 people at the same time.
The world is fighting a battle that has not occurred before in the lifetime of the present generation.
Nobody in the world was prepared for this. We still do not have a vaccination for coronavirus.
Most of the countries that are facing the epidemic on a very large scale do not have enough ventilators or hospital beds to provide the patients with the medical facilities.
In the UK, the government declared that they just have 5,000+ ventilators around the country.
In India, there are just about one lakh ventilators for a population of 130 crores.
In Italy, so many patients lost their lives because they could not get a ventilator.
Keeping the same in mind, Dr. Alain Gauthier, who works as an anesthetist at the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital in Ontario, Canada, noticed the problem and ran his genius mind.
He went on YouTube and watched an idea used by Detroit Doctors in 2006.
Medical authorities around the world are trying to use their ventilators and equipment for multiple patients because no country has enough of it.
As per a report from Canadian media, patients who have the same size of lungs would have to be prepared.
Then multiple hoses will be attached to the machine to make use of it with more power and multiple people.
Dr. Alain Gauthier said that he was worried his hospital does not have enough measures to give to all patients.
He said “at a later point of time we will have different options.
We could either let people live with their disease where they will die for sure, or give them a chance at life.”
Dr. Alain Gauthier said this is not the first time after all these years that the idea is being used.
The same idea was used in 2017 after Las Vegas’s mass shooting.
