Prince William has revealed that when he drives Prince George and Princess Charlotte to school, they notice homeless people on the street and ask him ‘why can’t they go home.
’
The couple joined baking expert Mary Berry for A Berry Royal Christmas on BBC, and they talk about their family life.
A teaser clip shared on the Kensington Royal Twitter account shows Prince William said his children, don’t understand why people are sleeping on the streets.
He told Mary Berry: ‘On the school run already, bear in mind they’re six and four, whenever we see anyone who is sleeping rough on the streets, I talk about it and I point it out and I explain why and they’re all very interested.
‘They’re like: ”Why can’t they go home?”.’
William made the revelations during his visit to The Passage in central London, which is the UK’s largest center for homeless people and he is a patron.
George and Charlotte will make their first public Christmas outing this year.
They will join William and Kate on a walk to church on Christmas Day in Sandringham, where the Queen hosts Christmas.
A royal source told the Sun: ‘It will be so sweet. George and Charlotte will make their Christmas debut, as long as they’re both on good form on the day.
‘It’s the picture all royal fans want to see. The royals walking to church on Christmas Day is a rite of passage and so William and Kate didn’t want to expose their children too early, but they feel they’re old enough now.
William also praised his late mother Princess Diana who took him and his brother Prince Harry into the world of homeless and needy people. He told Berry, “It was one of the first places I came to actually. I must have been between 8 and 10, something like that. It had a profound impact on me.”
‘It was one of the first places I came to actually. I must have been eight or nine and it had a profound impact on me.
‘My mother knew what she was doing with it, she realized that it’s very important when you grow up, especially in the life we grew up in, that you realize life happens beyond the palace walls and that you see real people struggling with real issues.’
