The sister of George Floyd, the man who died after the brutal arrest in which a police officer was seen pressing his knee against his neck, has spoken out and called for the cops involved in her brother’s death to be charged with murder.
As Bridgett Floyd said during her appearance in the Today show, firing the cops responsible for her brother’s death isn’t enough.
“I would like for those officers to be charged with murder because that’s exactly what they did. They murdered my brother; he was crying for help,” Bridgett expressed.
“I don’t need them to be suspended and able to work in another state or another county. Their licenses should be taken away; their jobs should be taken away, and they should be put in jail for murder. Firing them is just not enough.
“I believe that justice will be served — I have enough faith to stand on it.”
As seen in the disturbing video taken at the time of George’s arrest, officer Derek Chauvin was kneeling the man who was lying facedown on the pavement and crying out for help. Meanwhile, the other cops stood by watching and failed to act until George lost consciousness.
According to the family’s attorney, Benjamin Crump, officer Chauvin needs to be charged with murder whereas he called for the cop’s partners to be charged as murder accomplices.
Speaking of the upsetting incident that has been making rounds on the internet, Bridgett added:
“It’s wrong. Period. It’s wrong. I don’t understand how someone could possibly let an individual go out like that. He’s yelling, he’s telling the officer he can’t breathe.”
The case is being investigated by the FBI.
