A military dog just completed a skydive jump as part of his training to become a great paratrooper.
The adorable German shepherd named Ding Dang serves the Airborne Corps of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force and is on its way to becoming a four-legged paratrooper!
A video from CCTV Military shows the pooch participating in the mission while being bound to its handler.
In the video, Ding Dang’s trainer jumps out of the aircraft with the brave army pooch attached to him by a harness.
The military dog had its eyes covered and muzzle wrapped during the jump. He also appeared very calm throughout the mission.
They free-fell from the plane for some time before the trainer opened the parachute so they could land safely. His handler hopes that the pooch would be qualified soon as a paratrooper.
People’s Daily, China shared the video on YouTube, writing: “Woof! Mission accomplished! Chinese military dog “Ding Dang” takes part in skydive training with #PLA soldier as part of its training to become a paratrooper.”
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army hopes that the training of dog paratroopers could let it drop soldiers and army canines to certain areas quickly during special operations.
In 2010, German Shepherd dogs were parachuted by British special forces to search for Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan, the Guardian reported.
The army dogs, which were strapped to their handlers for the jump, had video cameras attached to their heads and were tasked to hunt Taliban strongholds.
