A massive dog had to be carried down the mountain by rescuers after he got too tired to continue walking after reaching the peak.
While hiking can be pretty tiresome, we don’t often hear of people having to be rescued because they are too lazy to descend after making it to the top. Even less do we hear about dogs being left stranded on a mountain peak because they refused to walk back down.
One 86-kilogram dog named Floyd, however, decided to test his owner’s nerves by lying down and refusing to stand up after they reached the summit of Grandeur Peak in Salt Lake City, Utah.
As Floyd’s owner said, he was forced to plead with the Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team to rescue Floyd after the 190-pound sweetheart decided he wished to spend the night on the peak.
“Several hikers had called Unified Police to report that the dog and his owner were on the trail and not able to move,” the rescuers wrote.
“Salt Lake County Search and Rescue members went into action and headed up the trail to make sure Floyd could get off the mountain with his human before it got too cold.
“Floyd was packaged in a litter and carried down the mountain. Floyd was a good boy and was happy to be assisted.”
In the photos taken by the rescue team, Floyd appears to be content as the rescuers treat him like a celebrity by carrying him down the trail.
As the sister of the dog’s owner admitted after the incident, she was getting ready to spend the night at the summit after Floyd refused to stand up for hours.
Hopefully, Floyd the Mastiff received plenty of treats to recover from the ‘ordeal’ after the rescue!
