Animals can be creative at times to meet their survival needs. The same happened in Kruger Park, South Africa. A herd of thirsty elephants used a hotel pool to lessen their thirst when Sun was shining at 37 degrees Celsius. The watering hole found by elephants was a shock for tourists too. Tourists noticed the trunks of giant animals going into the hotel pool to take a drink.
It was quite a hot day, and a herd of elephants was passing by Thambo Tree Camp in the Kruger Park, South Africa, where they found a pool and started drinking water from it.
Carolynne Higgins, a guest who was present at that time near the pool, told that they watched the herds drinking from the small pool.
He further expressed that after witnessing this Africa had stolen a place in his heart.Carolynne expressed himself as “There is nothing more rewarding than watching a friendly herd of jumbo socializing and interacting adjacent to where humans are doing exactly the same thing”.Other tourists were also present at a few meters distance from the pool. It was a bit of shock for some of them, as elephants were right there when wooden decking and sun loungers were placed.
As the mothers and calves drink up the cooling liquid, a parched bull appears from nowhere and barges one of the youngsters aside. While the Thambo Tree Camp in Kruger Park is open, it simply means that wildlife animals including dangerous predators can roam freely, creating bad surprises among tourists.
When the elephants headed towards the pool to lessen their thirst, some of the tourists were having their lunch near the pool. Brett Thomson, from Sun Destinations who run the lodge, further told that the way the bull was pushing the calf out of the way, there was involvement of a social hierarchy.
Moreover, if you look at the video closely you can notice another herd approaching that swimming pool. You can say that the maintenance crew would be spending the next few days refilling the pool, by the unexpected arrival of uninvited guests.
