Gigi Hadid, 26, has issued a statement via her representative after reports that her boyfriend Zayn Malik, 28, had allegedly struck her mother.
According to the rep, Gigi is asking ‘for privacy during this time,’ PEOPLE reported.
“Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai,” the rep told PEOPLE. “She asks for privacy during this time.”
On Thursday, TMZ reported Thursday that Malik allegedly had a physical altercation with the supermodel’s mom, Yolanda Hadid, 57.
Ever since the report broke out, Malik has denied alleged striking.
The former One Direction member posted a statement on Twitter, and he did not directly name the person involved.
According to the statement, the singer had an “argument” with “a family of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.”
“This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press,” Malik’s Twitter statement reads.
“I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves,” the 28-year-old wrote.
Gigi and Zayn have kept their daughter Khai out of the public eye, though the 26-year-old cover girl shares occasional photos of the child to Instagram.
Just last month, Zayn and Gigi celebrated Khai’s first birthday, and on Father’s Day, Gigi also shared a tribute to Zayn.
“Our Khai is so lucky to have a baba who loves her so much & does anything to see her smile,” Gigi wrote. “Happy first Father’s Day .. I’m so grateful for all the lil bits of her that are you ☺️ We love you so much.”
Meanwhile, an insider told PEOPLE that the duo is “not together right now” but they do “co-parent” their daughter, while another source told the publication that “there’s no love lost between Yolanda and Zayn.”
