A 46-year-old father was accidentally killed by his daughter, 15, when she accidentally hit the gas and pinned him against a tree.
The father was teaching the teen how to park his 2017 Ford F-150 pickup truck at Anderson Park in Tarpon Springs when she accidentally hit him, according to police.
WFLA reported that the father went out of the vehicle as his daughter tried to pull into a parking space so he could guide her.
But the teen accidentally hit the accelerator forward and the vehicle jumped over a curb and pinned her father against a tree.
First responders arrived and found the girl trying to help her injured father. He was rushed to a hospital after the 5:30 pm incident but was pronounced dead around 8 pm.
One internet user commented: “That poor girl will never forgive herself. I want to give her a hug and tell her her dad would have forgiven her.”
Another wrote: “That poor girl is going to be emotionally scarred for the rest of her life. I hope the authorities go easy on her.”
A third added: “No limit to how sad life can be? Any father loves his daughter and wants the very best for her in life. So this girl shouldn’t carry the burden of this horrible and unfortunate accident in her heart forever. Sincere condolences. RIP!”
