A 7-year-old girl suffering from alopecia doesn’t let her condition get in the way of celebrating Crazy Hair Day, one of her favorite school traditions!
Gianessa Wride recently discovered that her hair was falling out. After a month, she was almost bald and her mother Daniella had to chop the remaining bits of her hair.
But Gianessa won’t just sit back and watch during Crazy Hair Day! Her mom bought some packs of jewel stickers and covered the girl’s head in beautiful design that her classmates loved.
Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder that cases the immune system to attack hair follicles.
When the 7-year-old lost all of her hair, she didn’t want to let her condition ruin the Crazy Hair Day at school she ‘loves this kinda thing.’
“I know she just wants to be like other kids and just fit in and have fun,” Daniella added.
She covered Gianessa’s head with different sparkly designs and filled in some spaces with blue jewels. “She said she was really nervous no one would like it,” Daniella shared.
But when the little girl saw herself in the mirror, “she got a massive grin on her face and she said, “I look so awesome!” I asked her if she thought people would love it and she said, “I’m sure they will.””
And the entire school did.
When Daniella dropped her off at school, she already heard her classmates telling her daughter, “That’s awesome!” and “That’s so cool!”
“She said, “All the kids kept swarming me! They all LOVED it!” She said her teacher chose her for best “crazy hair” in her class,” Daniella added.
You are a beautiful girl, Gianessa! Keep smiling!
