A young girl had her arm amputated after she suffered for months at the hands of her aunt, 36-year-old Makka Ganieva.
7-year-old Aisha Azhygova will now need years of psychological treatment after enduring domestic abuse, a court in Russia heard.
Her ordeal surfaced only after her carer rushed her to a hospital when her right arm swelled horribly.
Shocked doctors diagnosed the young girl with gangrene and found knife cuts, bites, and burns all over her fragile body.
Doctors immediately contacted the police when her aunt, Ganieva, could not explain the young girl’s injuries.
When questioned by officers, the abusive aunt reportedly confessed to breaking her niece’s arm.
Aisha was later transferred to Moscow where she underwent an amputation of her arm.
Doctors from the Research Institute for Children’s Emergency Surgery and Traumatology removed the dead part of her right arm, including the forearm and hand.
Aside from leaving the child’s wounds untreated, officers also discovered heartbreaking details of the child’s life during her stay with her aunt.
Aisha’s mother had temporarily sent her to Ganieva after experiencing financial problems.
She initially thought that her child would have a better life with her aunt but she now regrets her decision.
According to reports, the 7-year-old girl was always punished for everything Ganieva believed was the ‘wrong thing to do.’
The cruel aunt subjected Aisha to tortures, injuring her with scissors and knives or pressing her skin against a hot stove, the Sunzhenskiy District Court heard.
Neighbors revealed that Ganieva also harmed her own two kids.
“Ganieva beat the girl up for any mistake from December 2018 until July 2019,” said prosecutor Maksharip Dobriev.
“As a result of the beatings, the girl suffered serious bodily injuries which led to the amputation of a part of her right arm,” Dobriev added.
“The accused was found guilty by the court.”
Ganieva was charged with deliberately causing of grievous bodily harm and sentenced to six years in jail.
