Lilac Jackson has always used walking aids to get around but recently, she walked into her school for her first day of primary school in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire unaided.

Lilac suffers from spastic diplegia cerebral palsy and has always used walking aids to get around.

She attends Woodmancote Primary School in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and when she walked into her classroom for her first day without any help, she left everyone amazed.

Her parents Leila and Barry were delighted to see their little daughter walking without any help.

Her mother Leila said: “It’s everything we’ve ever wanted. Her attitude is amazing. It just says so much about how far she’s come, and how ready she was for this.”

“All parents stop and reflect on their child’s first day of school, but for Lilac this is such a huge milestone. She lives an extraordinary life.”

Her parents say that Lilac has defied all the odds and she left everyone surprised when she walked into her classroom on her own.

Her mother said that Lilac was quite nervous about walking into school by herself and they didn’t expect her walking into her classroom by herself.

When they reached the school, they encouraged her to take a couple of steps. She tried to take a few steps and then walked into her classroom unaided.

Leila added: “When we got to the drop-off point I told her to just try a couple of steps. But then when I dropped her hand, she just flew past me.”

“She’s been blowing her teacher’s minds all week because they look round and her sticks are lying there and she’s pottering around the classroom.”

Her parents have raised over £100,000 for Lilac’s treatment and hope she will be able to walk without any help one day.
