A teenage girl has spoken out about the incident that cost her beloved dog his life as she called for justice after the owner of the off-leash dog who attacked her pooch fled the scene of the attack.
The incident occurred in Woolwich, London, UK, where 18-year-old Renata Aladenika was walking 4-year-old Rocco when a dog without a leash ran over and attacked her pooch.
According to the upset teenager, the bullmastiff that attacked her dog shook Rocco “like a rag doll.”
“It felt like this giant devil dog versus our tiny Rocco. He was a tenth of his weight, so he didn’t stand a chance,” the girl said after sharing the footage of the attack in an attempt to identify the owner of the off-leash dog.
“The dog wasn’t on a lead. It was awful, he ran over and grabbed Rocco by the head and started shaking him. The owner tried to drag it away by the ear, but it must have been 70 kg (154 pounds).”
As Aladenika added, the owner of the dog apologized for the attack and promised to take her and her dog to the vet.
“But when she got into her car she just drove off,” the 18-year-old explained.
Following the attack, Aladenika was forced to say goodbye to her beloved Rocco who had to be put down after suffering severe injuries during the attack.
“They said they were going to have to put him down and that we should go down to say goodbye to him,” the teen recalled.
“It didn’t feel real walking into the room and seeing him on the table. Rocco was so energetic and if anybody walked into the room normally he would have been jumping on us but he couldn’t move.
“I held his paw and I told him that it was ok, he was whining and it felt like he was still trying to fight and survive. It didn’t feel real that he wasn’t going to make it and come home with us.”
Following the heartbreaking passing of her dog, Aladenika went viral with her story and the shocking footage of the attack in an attempt to identify the dog owner who fled the scene after the attack.
“The way she ran away with her dog and left me to deal with Rocco alone was a cowardly thing to do,” she said.
