A 3-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital after Halloween trick-or-treating turned into a real-life horror story as she ingested a tampered candy.
According to the reports, Abbey was out collecting treats together with her siblings in Bacchus Marsh near Melbourne, Australia.
After eating some of the candies she had picked up and returning home, her mum quickly noticed that her daughter was looking sickly.
In the hospital, doctors managed to stabilize Abbey, who appeared “zonked and wobbly on her feet,” and informed the police about the incident.
According to the authorities, the girl was most likely given drugs or candies laced with medication for people suffering from depression and bipolarity.
As the worried mother revealed, she called the ambulance as soon as she saw her daughter in a distressing state. After the paramedics arrived at their home, they told her it was vital for the child to be transported to the hospital immediately.
“Investigators have been told that the child may have ingested a prescription medication and are currently making inquiries as to how this happened,” they allegedly stated. “Police have not received any other reports of any similar incidents in the area.”
As the news went viral, other parents have been warned about the dangers of trick-and-treating and potential sinister intentions that some members of the community might have.
For parents who choose to let their children go through with the popular Halloween practice, it is suggested they inspect the treats their children collect carefully and make sure they only allow them to consume those packed in original packaging.
