A three-year-old girl found dead after she was left in a hot car on a 42C day in south-east Victoria on Friday.
Three-year-old Emily Lever’s body was pulled out of a parked vehicle at The Boulevard at Morwell, in the Latrobe Valley area of Gippsland in south-east Victoria on a 42C day.
Her paternal grandparents Karen and Leslie Spark have now talked about the tragic incident that took place just days before her fourth birthday.
The grandparents told that they were planning to celebrate her fourth birthday but are now organizing her funeral.
The grandfather described his granddaughter as loving, sweet, and a happy girl.
Mr. Spark told the Herald Sun: “It is a tragic accident. The worst is to come. It doesn’t feel real… [Emily] had so much life in her.
She was a chatterbox. She was a loving, sweet, happy girl. I don’t know what we are going to do on Wednesday on her birthday.”
Emily’s body was found in a hot vehicle on a 42-degree day in Victoria.
Several attempts were made to revive her but she passed away at the scene.
It is still unclear how long she had been in the hot car and the exact circumstances of the tragic incident.
Emily’s parents, Monica and Shaun Lever, who recently separated, are devastated after the incident.
Monica and Shaun Lever also have a five-year-old daughter Alice and 18-month-old daughter Jaina.
Homicide Squad detectives are investigating Emily’s death and no one has been arrested yet.
It is also not known whether Mr. and Mrs. Lever was involved in the tragedy.
More than 130 children have been rescued from vehicles since the start of this year, according to NRMA.
NSW Ambulance inspector Carolyn Parish said the consequences of such simple incidents can be catastrophic.
