A 15-year-old Chinese girl looked decades older due to a rare condition and was bullied all her life.
Xiao Feng looked decades older due to her wrinkly skin and was mocked and bullied by everyone.
She struggled and felt insecure all her life until strangers decided to help her.
After learning about her condition, strangers raised more than £20,000 and Xiao Feng underwent life-changing plastic surgery.
Surgeons at Shenyang Sunline Plastic Surgery Hospital performed the surgery that lasted seven and a half hours.
After the life-changing plastic surgery, when Feng saw her new appearance, she burst into tears.
Xiao Feng’s father, Wang Hongde, said: “Today is the happiest day for my daughter.
The night after Xiao Feng’s surgery was the night when I slept the soundest because I believed that doctors could cure my daughter’s condition and help her live and study happily in the future.”
“When she was in her primary school, she was often mistaken as “a parent”; and whenever she went to the town with her mother, people would surround them, look at them and discuss about them.”
Surgeons from Shenyang Sunline Plastic Surgery Hospital claimed that Xiao Feng had progeria but it only affected her skin and not her organs.
Her mother also suffers from the same condition.
After surgery, Xiao Feng talked about the struggled she had to face all her life.
She said: “Nobody wants to play with me, and only pigeons are willing to accompany me because they won’t dislike me or think I am ugly.”
Philanthropist Guo decided to raise funds for Xiao Feng after she wrote a letter to him.
She wrote: “Uncle Guo, how do I wish to return to a normal life and not feel the need to avoid other people’s attention or feel haunted by my classmates’ whispers.”
Mr. Guo organised a charity marathon where 1,000 joggers in Shenyang took part and raised more than £20,000.
After surgery, Shenyang Sunline Plastic Surgery Hospital cancelled all of Xiao Feng’s medical bills to help her use the funds raised by the public on her recovery and studies.
