A nine-year-old girl named Emmie Allan looks so much like Harry Potter’s Hermione Granger that her parents say she gets stopped on a weekly basis by strangers who can’t believe the likeness.
The little girl resembles young Emma Watson so much that her pals have nicknamed her Hermione.
Emmie’s mother Sherelle Allan, 28, has said the striking similarities between her daughter and the young actress are ‘creepy’ and that she doesn’t need to be in costume for people to stop and comment.
She said: “I do get excited for her looking like Emma. It’s very funny. It’s definitely a flattering lookalike.’’
“It would be nice to get her some recognition for it looking like Emma.
“It was around three years ago that we realised she looked like Hermione. Since then all of our friends and family know, and friends call her Hermione as a nickname.”
“She was flattered by it at first. She went all shy and would have a big smile on her face and tuck her head down to say thank you.
But now it’s just like ‘yes, I know’.
“She gets stopped at least once a week. She just rolls her eyes at them now. It gets quite annoying for her.
“I’ve seen the majority of Emma’s films, but Emmie loves Beauty and the Beast.
She went to see that.
“I was thinking about trying to get her a Beauty dress, but she’s never dressed up like that.
“I love Harry Potter more than Emmie does herself and it’ll only be because I like it that she’ll sit and watch it herself.
“She does like Harry Potter though. We were going to go to Harry Potter World, but they’re fully booked until next year, so we’ll have to wait for then. ”
“She’ll probably get some people looking at her twice there too.
“Emmie dressed up as Hermione for fancy dress last year. It was playing on the fact that people say she looks like her.
“I asked her what she wanted to go as – scary like a zombie, or whatever, or I could get her the Harry Potter costume.
“She said let’s get the costume. She put it on, and it was quite creepy how much she does look like her in the costume.
“I’ve had a few comments that said she only looked like her because she’s in the costume which I can understand, but even when she’s not dressed like that she looks like her.
“But she’s only worn that costume last year the once and then when she’s been playing with friends.
“Whenever we go out and gets stopped and told she looks like Emma Watson, she is always in her own clothes.”
The little girl hopes that one day she will become an actress or model, like her doppelganger Emma.
Her mother added: “There are a few people who have said if Emma Watson wanted to do a film where there was a flashback to her childhood, Emmie would be the perfect face for it.
“She did say she wanted to do modelling but I’ve got two younger children and doing modelling takes a lot of commitment and last minute travelling.
“I don’t think it would do well to take her, but it’s probably people commenting on her looks that has inspired it.
“I did put a picture of Emmie up online and tagged Emma Watson in it and told her that a lot of people are telling me that my daughter looks like her. But I have no idea if she’s even seen it. I wouldn’t know. ’’
“I don’t worry about it overtaking her own identity because Emma Watson is triple her age, so it’s not like she’s a lookalike of what she looks like now.
“I mean, she might grow up to look like Emma Watson, but right now it’s the actress as she was 10 or 15 years ago.
“I don’t know whether she would get a career being a lookalike when she’s older if she does still look like her.
“It’s not very often that this sort of thing happens and it would be something that, in years to come when she has her own children, she can tell them ‘when I was younger I looked like this actress’.
“She can show them pictures.
I think it would be nice for her as a little keepsake of her life.
“My other two daughters don’t look like anything – they just look like their dad. Maybe when they’re older.
“They’re still young and just baby faces at the minute.
I don’t get mistaken for anyone either.
